Location

Export Street / Pritchard Street & Tanker Street Intersection

Contractual Completion Date

October 2009

Original Contract Value

$4,086,167.00

As part of the Department of Main Road’s program of delivering safer roads for Queensland, McIlwain Civil was awarded the contract for the intersection safety upgrades of two major intersections servicing the Port of Brisbane.

Works involved the upgrade of intersections at

  • Pritchard Street, Export Street and Port Drive, Lytton
  • Port Drive and Tanker Street, Lytton

The Pritchard Street upgrade involved closing the existing Pritchard Street and Port Drive intersection and redirecting Pritchard Street west to form a new intersection on Export Street as well as installing traffic signals at the existing intersection of Pritchard Street and Export Street to reduce delays and provide for safer access for motorists accessing the Port from Wynnum. The upgrade at Tanker Street banned dangerous right turns onto Port Drive and provided an extended left turn acceleration lane to assist heavy vehicles to gain speed before merging with through traffic on Port Drive.
