Watpac Limited were contracted by the Queensland Government to construct the Knowledge Based Reserach Building at Kessels Road, Macgregor.

The Scope of Works comprised a broad range of civil infrastructure, including Earthworks, Stormwater Drainage, Roadworks and Services. We were also engaged to construct contiguous bored pier retaining walls, a concrete crib retaining wall, landscaping and hydraulic services.

All  works were staged to enable WATPAC to commence the  construction of three new buildings in accordance with their program.

The project works also had to be carried out with minimal impact on the operation of the facility. New and larger carparks were created  in advance of the building works to compensate for the removal of existing parking.

The site consisted of several existing buildings with a maze of existing services, many of which were in conflict with the new works. An extensive amount of locating and potholing was undertaken to ensure live services were not damaged during construction.
