The project comprised the construction of a signalized intersection on Morayfield Road to provide the main access to the Morayfield Supa Centre. The project was completed under significant traffic with an estimated average volume of 26,000 vehicles per day.
The works included major services relocation (Trunk water main, optic fibre & HV cables) and protection works, road widening, bulk earthworks, stormwater drainage, heavy duty granular pavements, rate 2 road lighting and traffic signal installation.
Significant traffic management and control was required, including lane diversions via safety barriers, temporary traffic islands, signage & linemarking. Traffic management plans were developed in house in consultation with the Department of Main Roads inspectors. Conduit & service crossings were undertaken at night to minimize traffic disruption. Traffic control was resourced using accredited internal & external traffic controllers.
Lengthy consultation was undertaken with neighbouring businesses and stakeholders to forewarn of the potential impact of MCE control measures and minimize business impact as much of possible.
