Engineering Manager
Barry commenced his career in 1975 with Rendell & Partners Consulting Engineers where he was engaged in the Port Planning Study for Brisbane and has since that time gained significant experience in planning, design, construction, engineering & business management in the Civil Engineering & Construction Industry. Barry’s project experience has included major roadworks, port landside works, airport air and landside works, as well as a broad range of civil projects in the transport, residential, commercial and industrial developments sector.
Barry spent some 15 years with Rankine & Hill Consulting Engineers from 1977 to 1992 commencing as a design engineer and progressing to Associate and Queensland Civil Manager. Barry commenced his civil construction career with Civdec Constructions in 1994 starting as a Project Manager and then being promoted to Construction Manger, Operations Manager and then General Manager. In December 2009 Barry commenced with McIlwain Civil Engineering where he currently fulfills the role of Engineering Manager with overall responsibility for the delivery of all MCE projects and an advisory role in the project sourcing and pre-delivery phase.
Barry’s broad background in civil engineering design and construction, as well as business and systems management allows him to potentially add value during the many phases of a project from inception to delivery.

Systems Manager
Gareth has over 10 years experience in the Civil Construction Industry both on the ground and as a safety professional. During his time as a construction worker Gareth completed a Bachelor of Health Science with a major in Occupational Health, Safety and Environment at the Queensland University of Technology. Since leaving university he has worked in both the manufacturing and construction industry as a Project Specific and Regional Safety Coordinator.
Since commencing employment with McIlwain Civil, Gareth has been responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the Integrated Management System. McIlwain Civil have recently undergone recertification against ISO14001, ISO9001 and AS4801. Gareth has the responsibility to ensure that these standards and systems are implemented across all projects. Gareth also fulfils the role of Workforce Development Manager and has three internal trainers and assessors as part of his valuable training team. McIlwain also have three Workplace Health and Safety Officers who report to Gareth on any site safety issues.

Estimating Manager
Tim has over 15 years experience in the Civil Construction Industry commencing as a trainee for the Queensland Housing Construction Group training scheme. Upon completing his traineeship he commenced employment with McIlwain Civil as a civil construction worker and rapidly showed his ability to retain information and work as a functioning member of the team. From here he moved up the organizational ladder and fulfilled roles as a leading hand and Grader operator. Tim’s capacity to quickly and easily adapt to new situations and tasks saw him identified as a potential prospect for site administration and estimating.
Tim made a seamless transition from field to office work and is now the company’s Estimating Manager. During his current post Tim’s in depth knowledge of construction practices and estimating procedures saw him take the role of Project Manager for our first major Main Roads project on the Wide Bay Highway, Kilkivan. Since completing this project Tim has managed the estimating team to ensure McIlwain Civil’s order book and future works are continually maintained and grown at sustainable levels.
Corporate Services Manager
Prior to commencing employment with McIlwain Civil, Kylie completed her Advanced Secretarial Certificate at TAFE in 1988. Starting as an office junior Kylie progressed in her administrative career to become an executive assistant before moving to Queensland in 1998 where she worked as an Office Administrator and Marketing Assistant. Kylie has been working within varied sectors of the construction industry for 18 years ranging from Project Management, Manufacturing and Civil Construction.
Kylie commenced work with McIlwain Civil in August 2000 as an Administration Assistant. She then progressed to the roles of Personal Assistant; Administration Manager; and in 2006 took on the additional role of Human Resources Manager. During her employment with McIlwain Civil Kylie has completed a Certificate IV in Frontline Management and a Diploma in Business. In 2007 Kylie began her Bachelor of Business Degree part-time at Griffith University.
