Keith McIlwain

Managing Director & General Manager

Keith has over 35 years experience in the Civil Engineering and Construction Industry in Design, Supervision and Construction of civil projects ranging from residential, commercial and industrial developments to major road infrastructure projects.

Prior to working for McIlwain Civil Keith gained experience in Australia and overseas as a civil and geotechnical engineer. Keith spent 10 years with McWilliam & Partners Consulting Engineers as a design engineer progressing to Associate Director and Geotechnical Manager. Keith began his own consultancy in 1984 (Keith McIlwain and Associates) specializing in geotechnical investigating/reporting and contract management of civil construction projects. In 1990 Keith commenced with McIlwain Civil Engineering and currently fulfills the roles of Managing Director and General Manager.

Keith has been heavily involved in numerous industry groups including The Institution of Engineers Construction Panel, The Civil Contractors Federation (CCF) (Queensland President 1994-1996), (National President 2001-2002) and Construction Training Queensland (Chairman 2004-2005). He is currently the civil/infrastructure sector representative on the board of Construction Skills Queensland and is Deputy Chairman of the National Resources and Infrastructure Industry Skills Council (Skills DMC).  His passion for the industry as a whole and in particular workforce training and skills development is well recognized and acknowledged.

 

Neal McIlwain

Director & Construction Manager

Neal has over 35 years experience in the Civil Construction Industry on the ground as a construction worker, plant operator, leading hand, and Construction Manager. Neal has been responsible for the delivery of residential and group title subdivisions as well as complex commercial, industrial and civil infrastructure projects.

Neal commenced working in the civil industry as a construction worker and trainee Plant Operator for his father in 1974. Neal progressed through the organisation and in 1991 became a Director in partnership with his brother Keith. Neal is currently a Construction Manager and oversees the Plant Hire Business group. Responsible for resource allocation, programming and subcontractor/supplier engagement and review Neal’s main focus is to ensure adherence to project programs. Given his practical background and recent Certificate IV in Training and Assessing, Neal fulfils an important role in upskilling and mentoring all site personnel.

 

Tim McIlwain

Director & Project Manager

Tim has over 10 years experience in the Civil Construction Industry in the roles of Project Manager, Project Engineer and Contract Administrator for both urban development and civil infrastructure projects. In 2009 Tim accepted an offer to become McIlwain Civil’s third director in partnership with his father and uncle.

Tim has developed the ability to manage a multi-disciplined project team through from project planning to handover.  Particular focus is paid to the building of long standing relationships with clients and stakeholders by achieving ‘best for project’ outcomes in all cases. Tim's ability in project management and strategic business management ensures McIlwain Civil will go from strength to strength in the coming years.
